WHAT IS MYFARM.TV

Strengthening animal welfare: myfarm.tv

myfarm.tv supports retailers and farmers in communicating their commitment to animal welfare to consumers in a convincing and credible way. The aim is to give consumers in the food market an unvarnished view of the husbandry conditions and living conditions of the animals whose meat they buy and whose eggs they want to eat. And for which they are willing to spend more money than for the meat of an animal kept in anonymous factory farming.

For this purpose, myfarm.tv provides a platform for farmers and retailers that enables the transmission of a liveTV image from the barn to the screens in the retailer’s store.

myfarm.tv enables the transparency and honesty necessary to gain and build consumer trust in the handling of farm animals.

Animal welfare labeling and participation: Strengthening trust through myfarm.tv

The Animal Welfare Initiative and the Animal Welfare Seal have sparked consumer interest. The increased demand encourages and rewards those farmers who adhere to the amended guidelines and adapt the concept of their farms to the criteria for farm animal husbandry in terms of animal welfare and well-being.

As a farmer and retailer, take the opportunity to invite consumers to participate! Transparency of livestock farmers strengthens consumer trust. myfarm.tv is particularly inviting in this regard. While seals and labels for animal welfare on the products themselves only have a limited influence on purchasing decisions, a direct look at animal husbandry in the retail sector does all the more: those who see the husbandry of dairy cows, pigs, laying hens & turkeys with their own eyes have greater trust in the initiative’s criteria.

For more animal welfare: “5 freedoms” for pigs and hens

The Animal Welfare Initiative, which checks the conditions in animal husbandry on site and awards the seal for more animal welfare, has agreed on a whole series of criteria. These apply to varying degrees to laying hens and pigs, where a further distinction is made between the keeping of pigs, sows and piglets. In this way, the initiative refers to the World Society for the Protection of Animals, which is committed to the protection of farm animals worldwide. The basis is the “5 freedoms” for animal welfare:

  1. Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition.
  2. Freedom from discomfort
  3. Freedom from pain, injury and disease
  4. Freedom from fear and suffering
  5. Freedom to act out normal behavior

What does this mean for the content shown on myfarm.tv? The pigs and hens filmed look healthy and strong. They are well fed and receive medical care, but are not treated blanket with antibiotics. They live in sufficient daylight and have more space in the barn. They receive additional employment material – especially important for pigs in a pigsty. The measures reduce stress and form the basis for healthy and contented animals – which ultimately ensure healthy food. Those who can watch the animals in the trade experience the health and well-being of the animals almost up close. Consumers appreciate this closeness: it allows for more attention than a label on a package can provide.”
